Teeth Whitening
What options for teeth whitening does Green Dental offer?
Your smile is likely the very first thing other people notice about you. A confident smile can make a great first impression whether you’re at a job interview or meeting new people. However, if you don’t feel good about the brightness of your smile, trying to hide it may only harm the impression others have of you.
Luckily, Green Dental offers professional teeth whitening at both of our offices. In just two appointments, you can be on your way to whiter teeth — and renewed confidence that everyone will be sure to notice.
During the initial appointment, Drs. Gordon and Brooks Green and Dr. Nichole Barnett will examine your teeth and talk about how many shades whiter you would like to go. We will also take impressions of your teeth at this time. At the second appointment, we will fit you with the customized plastic trays made from your impressions. For your convenience, we will send you home with a professional-grade whitening solution. Depending on your preference, you can add the solution to the trays and use them twice a day for thirty minutes at a time, or simply overnight.
What is the difference between whitening my teeth at a dental office and doing it myself?
There are many different options on the market when it comes to tooth whitening. Whole shelves at drug and grocery stores are devoted to at-home whitening treatments, including:
- Toothpaste
- Mouthwash and rinses
- Floss
- Gum
- Strips
- Trays and gels
It can be difficult to know which product to choose — let alone which one will work best for your whitening goals. While some people have seen limited success with over-the-counter solutions like whitening strips and one-size-fits-all trays with whitening gel, chances are that the solution will not be as effective as a whitening treatment with your dental office.
At the dentist, you can have access to stronger whitening agents than those that are available for purchase at retailers. That’s because we supervise the process, guaranteeing more dramatic results.
How long will my whitening treatment last?
When you get your teeth whitened by professionals, the effects will last for years. Though some fading is natural, proper hygiene and maintenance can keep your smile bright for a long time. We also recommend eating and drinking food and beverages that regularly stain teeth in moderation, including coffee, tea, red wine, and others.
