Rachel
As a dental hygienist at Green Dental, Rachel assesses oral health conditions, reviews health history, records BP/dental charts and periodontal measurements, take X-rays, removes calculus and plaque from all surfaces of teeth, applies fluoride and sealants to teeth, administers local anesthesia, and teaches appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain a healthy smile. Rachel loves working with the helpful staff at Green Dental and alleviating patients’ dental anxiety.
“We see a lot of patients with high dental anxiety. For some, it’s been many years since they’ve had any type of cleaning. So they likely have some infection in their gums. It’s a good feeling to provide treatment and then see patients return with healthy mouths and feel comfortable maintaining regular re-care appointments.”
Rachel earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Indiana in 2014 and is licensed to administer local anesthesia and CPR. Through compassion, hard work, and focusing on the details, Rachel strives to be thorough and gentle with each patient. “I care about how patients feel and want them to be as comfortable as possible.”
In her free time, Rachel enjoys being with family, hiking, kayaking, taking ranger rides through the country, gardening, camping, playing cards, reading, and shopping. She has been skydiving, was in an Indiana State Fair commercial in college, and had an article published in The Journal for Nurse Practitioners titled “Oral Manifestations of Cancer Therapies: Advise for the Medical Team”. Charities Rachel is involved in include Hoosiers Outrun Cancer and local animal rescue organizations.
